Temporary closure of Killarney Drop-off for surface stabilisation ahead of winter

Killarney Drop-off facility is temporarily closed for essential surface stabilisation work in the garden waste chipping section.
The work is being undertaken proactively as the City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate prepares the facility for the upcoming winter rainfall season. Stabilising the surface of the chipping area will improve stormwater management, enhance operational safety and help ensure continued service reliability during wet weather conditions. The facility will reopen on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
Residents are requested not to leave any waste outside the closed facility. Illegal dumping outside closed sites creates health and environmental risks and diverts resources away from essential service delivery.

During the temporary closure, residents are encouraged to make use of the closest alternative drop-off facilities:

Welgelegen
Vissershok
Please note that Vissershok does not accept e-waste. This should be taken to one of the other listed facilities.
